How to Check Email In Outlook

Manual Setup for Outlook 2019:
- In Outlook, click File.
- Under Account Information: Click Add Account.
- On the next screen, type in your full email address. Underneath the email address, click Advanced Options and check “Let me set up my account manually”
- Click Connect
- Select IMAP or POP account type. (IMAP is highly recommended – please note you can not swap from POP to IMAP later without needing to back up your already downloaded email messages.)
- Enter secure.iljmail.com for incoming mail.
- Choose Port 993 for IMAP (or 995 for POP – Click here for an article on the difference between POP and IMAP.)
- POP: Check the box beside “This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL/TLS)” (no other boxes should be checked)
- IMAP: Choose Encryption Method SSL/TLS
- For Outgoing Mail type secure.iljmail.com and choose port 2500
- Choose Encryption Method STARTTLS
- Leave the remaining boxes unchecked
- Click “Next”
- Type in your email address password.
- Click “Connect”
- Congratulations! Your account should be set up and ready to view on the left.
Manual Setup (General Instructions for older Outlook setups)
- In Outlook, click File.
- Click Add Account.
- Select the Manual Setup radio button and click Next.
- Select the Pop or IMAP radio button and click Next. (IMAP is recommended)
- Enter your name and email address.
- Select IMAP account type.
- Enter secure.iljmail.com for both the incoming and outgoing mail server fields.
- Under Logon Information, enter your full email address for the User Name field.
- Enter your email password.
- Click More Settings.
- Click the Outgoing Server tab and check the box next to “My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication”.
- Click the Advanced tab.
- Under Server Port Numbers, select SSL encryption type for the incoming server.
- Make sure the incoming server port number is 993 for IMAP and 995 for POP. (click here for an article on the difference)
- Select STARTTLS encryption type for the outgoing server. If STARTTLS is not an option, select TLS encryption.
- Enter 2500 for the outgoing server port number.
- Under Folders, enter INBOX in the Root folder path field.
- Click OK.
- Click Next.
- Click Finish.
